A pair of 19th century/Napoleon III Louis XVI style gilt bronze and patinated bronze chenets, or andirons or fire dogs. Each modelled with a large gilt bronze acorn and a finely cast and chased patinated lion raised on plinths embellished with pierced scrolling foliage on toupee feet, with wrought iron rods.
Dated at the end of the 19th century, a period known for its revival styles, its renewed interest in Greco-Roman design elements, along with reinterpretations of the Louis XVI style.
