A 19th century Louis XV style side table or ‘Table en Chiffonière’ in the manner of Antoine-Louis Gosselin (1731 – 1794, maitre 1752). A marquetry side table, the serpentine top echoed by the serpentine front and sides. The front comprising three drawers with a basket of flower marquetry ‘sans traverse’ in shaped borders, a similar marquetry on the sides and the top depicting flower vase arrangements. The marquetry is enhanced by staining and filled engraving to give it more pictorial realism. The whole on on cabriole legs and foliate sabots with no apparent signs of a stretcher. This items is a small jewel presenting high quality marquetry within a light and bright design.
