A pair of 19th century bronze wall-lights, each with a fluted back plate surmounted by a swagged flaming classical urn, with two scrolled candle arms cast with leaves and beading and foliate cast drip-pans with corresponding nozzles, the fluted tapering back plate terminating in an acanthus leaf. A presumptive inventory number visible inside.

Delafosse’s ornamental designs ‚à la grecque’ for trophies, cartouches, clocks, decorative objects and architectural details were first published as part of his Nouvelle Iconologie Historique in 1768 and reedited in expanded versions in the 1770s and were extremely influential in disseminating the neoclassical style throughout Europe.
