Pair of Napoleon III neoclassical gilt bronze urns, the tapering ovoid body cast in high relief depicting satyrs and bacchante, raised on a circular polished black marble socle.
The relief scene from a bacchanal in the manner of Claude Michel, called Clodion (1738-1814). Clodion was a contemporary of Houdon and Fragonard, pursuing in his terracottas and overall designs again and again the topic of bacchanalian revelers. A motif borrowed and met again in those urns of the 2nd half of the 19th century.
