18th Century Louis XV Transition Marquetry Marble top side table or Écritoire
Small and elegant Louis XV Transition period side table or so-called table écritoire standing on four slender cabriole legs. The straight rectangular body showing canted corners in the front. The table comprises of three front drawers, the top drawer revealing compartments for inkwells and quills as well as a removable wooden leather-lined writing surface above a large compartment for hiding important things. The table is topped by a red marble Rouge Griotte plate, which is framed by brass banding. All sides of the small table écritoire or side table are decorated with fine mirrored kingwood veneer within curved cartouches that are framed with delicate banding. The key holes decorated with Louis XV gilt-bronze mounts, all feet with Louis XV rocaille sabots.
