Standing on four cabriole legs the commode or so-called sauteuse holds two frieze drawers of bowfront form with Régence or Baroque style movable handles and functional keyholes. Between the two front legs with gilt-bronze Régence style sabots a central shaped apron with Régence style gilt-bronze decoration. The front and both sides as well as the gilt-bronze banded top of the commode are decorated with elaborate trelliswork marquetry framed at the corners with herringbone pattern marquetry.
The simple but effective design of the trellis work appears almost modern and the contrast between the wood and the gilt bronze mounts leads to an elegant display. Very attractive Louis XIV Régence style commode of elegant proportions also suitable for smaller places.
