Pair of early 19th century French Empire gilt bronze amphora vases:
each amphora vase with an ovoid fluted body and a round foot standing on a high rectangular pedestal with toupie feet; from the sides issuing two acanthus scroll handles touching the rim of the narrow neck of the vase. The depth of the vase is only as deep as the height of the neck. The front of the pedestal depicting a neoclassical tripod burning vessel.
Very fine chiseling, elaborate gilding, playing with the contrast of matte and polished parts. Very high quality of execution leading to the best Parisian bronzemakers of the Empire period such as Thomire, Ravrio and Galle.
