Rectangular vitrine or bookcase standing on four cabriole feet, front and sides slightly curved, the angles pointedly extended. Mirrored marquetry on three sides. Two full-height doors, each with two glass panes in rectangular frames with a curved outline. The sides each with two curvy cartouches showing marquetry “au papillon”. Inside the cabinet 3 adjustable shelves. The Louis XV vitrine is topped by an unusually thick Breccia marble top following the shape of the vitrine with rounded edges and beautiful corner coving. Front feet and the upper ends of the angles with excellently chased and gilded bronze sabots or mounts.
Charming and useful small Louis XV vitrine or bookcase with exceptionally elegant proportions displaying excellent quality of workmanship, which indicates that the furniture was made in one of the important Parisian workshops of the mid-18th century.
