The ormolu cartouche-shaped case surmounted by a twin-handled neoclassical vase, standing on a arched frieze with four cone finials. The sides of the clock case with foliate scrollwork and drapery framing the dial. Underneath the dial an open pendulum aperture, leading down to further foliate scrollwork centred by a female mask. The white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with pierced hands signed “Juhel à Paris”. The clockwork has been revisioned recently and is in working condition. The clock comes with a matching winding key. The Louis XVI wall clock displays excellent chasing and beautiful original gilding.
An ormolu wall clock of the same model is part of the Eremitage collection of St. Petersburg, similar wall clocks can also be found in Waddesdon Manor and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
