The table comprises of three front drawers, the top drawer reveiling compartments for inkwells and quills as well as a removable wooden cover with leather lining for hiding important things and also serving as a writing surface. The front drawers, the sides, the tabletop as well as the corresponding stretcher at the lower part of the table are decorated with mirrored veneer “en papillon” and green coloured striped banding; the drawers with gilt bronze Louis XVI key hole covers. To prevent writing tools from falling off the table, the top is surrounded by a small wooden gallery.
