Large 19th Century Chinese Porcelain Bowl French Gilt Bronze Louis XVI Mount
Large chinese 19th century “famille rose” decorated round bowl with broad rim; standing on a round base with three feet in the shape of Chinese Fu dog heads. The rim of the bowl is decorated with an elaborate bronze mount in the form of an openwork ribbon frieze, which is given a special accentuation by three winged female busts. These busts serve as holders for movable handles in the form of laurel festoons and are connected to the bronze base of the bowl by narrow bars.
Its very fine chasing and its beautiful gilding make this bowl a splendid centerpiece for a large dinnertable or centertable; its significant size also makes it suitable not only as a fruitbowl, but also as a champagne cooler.
