Ornamental octogonal table frame with rich, partially openwork carved Louis XV style rocaille decoration on four curved and taperring legs with scoll feet and rocaille motifs underneath the table top. The octogonal black Scagliola plate displaying a central flower and fruit bouquet which is accompagnied by single hyacinth, marguerite, carnation and rose branches sits loose and suspended on a ledge and can be easily removed for transport. The lower part of the table with an ornamental stretcher displaying an excellently carved central rocaille motif.
Highly decorative small center table of the Napoleon III era displaying excellent wood carving and an elaborate and rare Scagliola slab. Scagliola was a particularly elaborate type of Stucco Lustro, in which dyed calcium sulphate masses were worked into stone plates previously prepared with bas-reliefs in such a way richly ornamented scenes or floral decoration arose.
