A pair of small Louis XVI style armchairs or ‘bergeres en cabriolet’ from the late 19th century. The carved paintwood bergeres with arched padded backs and loose cushion seats within a moulded paintwood frame accentuated by pale green lines, on fluted tapering legs. Both armchairs are upholstered with antique Toile de Jouy cotton fabric which is red printed on white depicting idealized pastoral scenes of village life. Upholstery in the French tradition with luxurious soft feather cushions. The petite but charming armchairs ideal for a smaller arrangement or room situation.
