A large and impressive pair of Empire candlesticks decorated with three female busts, dressed in the antique Greek fashion, resting on a tapering fluted shaft with black patina and a finely chiseled Conthian capital, the stem standing on a large round gilt bronze foot with acanthus foliage displaying matte and polished areas. The vase-shaped nozzle with removable drip-pan is decorated with fine chiseled flower, pearl and foliage relief. The feet of the candlesticks had been made heavy by adding an iron plate in order to increase their stability.
