The tapering stem with matte and polished gilt bronze parts decorated with lanceolate leaf foliage standing on a round and slightly domed foot showing the same foliage decoration. From the stem issuing the circular foliage decoration nozzle with removable drip pan. The pair of Louis XVI neoclassical candlesticks displays very fine chasing and excellent and vivid gilding with matte and polished parts.
The quality of the work and excellently proportioned design of the pair of Louis XVI candlesticks suggests a creation in one of the important Parisian workshops. In particular, the works of the famous Parisian bronziers C.Galle and A.-A. Ravrio show great similarity with this pair offered here: the Palais de Fontainebleau keeps seven pairs of candlesticks made by C. Galle (1758-1815) and A.-A. Ravrio (1759-1814) in 1805/1806 which are quite similar to the pair of candlesticks offered here.
