A pair of beautiful Louis XV gilt bronze two-light wall-lights, each of asymmetrical Rococo outline, the highly ornate scrolling acanthus wrapped backplate with flower heads, oak leaves and acorns issuing two scrolling branches cast with foliage terminating in drip pans resembling different flowers. The whole fixture almost bustling with life, with flowers and petals of individual shape and intricate foliage adding to the vibrancy and energy of the Rococo design.
The Pair of wall lights similar to the designs by Jean-Joseph St.Germain (1719-1791), in particular the use of whimsical elements next to generously sized foliage in order to create a dynamic effect. Further comparisons can be drawn by the similar use of oak leaves, acorns and certain types of flowers.
