This excellent, beautifully proportioned small commode of rectangular shape with curved outline and bombé front and sides standing on four slender and tapering cabriole legs with gilt bronze sabots, the front corners with foliate gilt bronze banding, the front feet with gilt bronze sabots. The sides and the drawers with excellent mirrored parquetry on an oak carcass. The commode consists of two lockable frieze drawers, each with Louis XV style gilt bronze handles. Above the drawers two seperate green leather fitted pull out writing slides. As a top serves a slab of yellow-pink marble fitted into a small wooden gallery. Between the front legs a shaped apron mounted with gilt bronze rocaille and foliage motif.
Charming small Louis XV chest of drawers with elegant proportions of excellent quality and additional writing function, which due to the quality workmanship was certainly made by one of the more important Parisian cabinet makers of the mid 18th century.
