German/Rudolstadt-Volkstedt late 19th century figure group of putti made of biscuit porcelain with French gilt bronze mounting:
Four putti on landscape round pedestal around a vase pedestal, in moving posture and different states of mind playing with a goat, a sheep, a boar and a calf. On high rectangular pedestal crater vase with applied flower garlands. The group of putti are probably representing the four temperaments sanguine, phlegmatic, melancholic and choleric with correspondingly assigned animals. Round base, the plinth of the vase and rim with finely chased gilded bronze mountings. Blue manufactory mark at the bottom.
Enchanting and elaborately executed figure group of putti with great richness of detail.
