Late 18th Century French Louis XVI Carved and Painted Wood Demilune Console Table
The demilune moulded mottled white and grey marble top above a carved frieze with fluting, lesbian kyma and square paterae. Standing on four fluted and tapering legs with toupie feet which are joined by shaped stretchers carved with pearl frieze, the centre circular platform supporting a neoclassical urn with twin Greek-key handles crowned by a flame. Fine, elaborate carving, French Grey paint with beautifully aged patina.
