An 18th century gueridon table, the quarter veneered circular top framed by a gilt bronze ‘mille raie’ surround above a frieze section with one drawer and one small leather lined candle slide. The table is raised on four square panelled tapering legs surmounted by gilt bronze paterae and ending in gilt bronze sabots. A gueridon table might often serve the purpose of holding a candelabra or vases of flowers – it almost always provides the additional touch of generosity and usefulness within a comfortable interior.
